August Update

5:35 pm August 8th, 2008

We’re back for an August update. If you didn’t get this months newsletter, here is a summary:

YouthWorks:

This year’s YouthWorks has wrapped up after eight consecutive successful Wednesday night services. We had our Dance & Drama team performing and four of our young men sharing.

  • Joel Leonard - Worship
  • Aaron Bechtol - Personal Journey with Christ
  • Joel Forsyth - Great Calvinistic Points
  • Sam Barksdale - Spiritual Disciplines
Thanks to everyone who made YouthWorks summer a success!

YWAM - Youth With A Mission

Rachel Rogers has been with YWAM for 3 weeks now and has been experiencing a lot.  She spent two weeks in Florida for training and community building of the team.  She has been learning about principles of intercessory prayer and has witnessed two deliverances.  She and her group are now in Atlanta, Georgia helping with urban ministries before leaving for Washington, D.C.

Your prayers and any on-going financial support is greatly appreciated.  She misses family and church family but has a sense of being prepared to minister more effectively.

hub

The Young Adults are planning to start a ministry called the Hub.  It will focus on worship, the Word and building community for the purpose of being a connection point and source for ministry opportunities happening in the Mobile area.  Services are planned to start Thursday, August 28th 7:00 pm at MCC.

Look forward to an update with more information later.

June Update

7:11 pm June 3rd, 2008

Every Summer MCC is proud to host a gathering with food and worship for YouthWorks, a large group of young people on missions trip to Bayou La Batre and surrounding areas. Every year YouthWorks brings a different crowd of young adults to our local area to help lend a helping hand to projects for needy people. The work they do has a great impact on our area and truly shows a great example of what happens when people gather in an attempt emulate Jesus and change the world around them.

YouthWorks kicks off June 11th at 6:00pm for food and fellowship, and 7:00pm for praise and worship and everyone, regardless of age, is welcome. We encourage everybody to bring as many of your friends as possible!

Nsoko Church Inauguration

3:33 pm April 2nd, 2008

Major milestones with the World Race! Excerpt from Seth Barns blog:

“It was a good day for orphans yesterday, at least in my world.

We had found 95 orphans in the Swaziland dirt last summer with no one to look after them. We felt God saying, “Take care of them.” You can read the story of how we started on Morgan’s blog. And God took our efforts and multiplied them. Here’s a video of the inauguration of our first center for these orphans. You can see my partners in crime, Gary Black and Andrew Shearman, in all their glory.”

New Look

12:56 am April 2nd, 2008

It looks as though MobileChristianCenter.com has landed into it’s new look. I hope you all like the new look and feel of the site. I personally think it is much classier than the previous version of the site. Feel free to leave feedback in the form of comments!

Welcome Church Members and Others!

10:53 pm March 30th, 2008

Hi, and thanks for dropping by to check up on the Mobile Christian Center church website!

If you are a church member, especially a return user, you may have noticed something… EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED. Yes, the entire site is being rebuilt from the ground up using PHP based (nerd lingo) software that will enable the congregation to interact in a more integrated way with the website. My hopes for all this change is that it will turn the website into a more useful and powerful tool that will be more importantly, and regularly used by church members. And yes, we also want to use it as a means of outreach!

I will keep you all posted on updates made to the website. Please understand that things will be changing a lot soon here. Don’t expect things to look like they were when you last left them upon return.

Also, I will be running several tests during the next few days to get a feel for some features of this web application.

God Bless
, Joel
